Part 1: Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Mug

I was recently introduced to the glory that is cooking cookies in a mug. For those of you who don't have the time, space, or patience to make an entire batch of cookies, these are the recipes for you.

I say recipes because searching "cookie in a mug" on the Internet introduced me to a rabbit hole of delicious baking ideas I just had to try.

Needless to say, I found tons of awesome recipes. I'll share with you my favorites in a 3-part series on "cooking in a mug"!

First up: the essential Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Mug!

Prep Time: 5 mins.                     Cook Time: 1 min.                      Price: $
...............................................................................................................................

Recipe

1 T. butter, melted
1 T. sugar
1 T. brown sugar
1/8 t. vanilla
1 egg yolk
1/4 cup flour
Chocolate chips (handful)
Pinch of salt

Stir together a tablespoon each of melted butter, (white) sugar, and brown sugar in a microwave-safe mug. Add one-eighth teaspoon of vanilla and stir.
Add one egg yolk and stir again. Add slightly less than one-fourth cup of flour, mixing again.
Toss in roughly a handful of chocolate chips.
Microwave for 40 seconds. Check the concoction and microwave the remaining 20 seconds.

Tip: In order to easily separate the yolk, crack the egg in half and repeatedly pour the yolk from one half of the egg to the other.

Why: Chocolate chip cookies are fantastic, but sometimes it just isn't convenient to bake an entire batch. For less than 10 dollars, this recipe allows us to bake one chocolate chip cookie--more than enough to satisfy your craving.

Mess-ups and Missteps: None this time around. Hooray!
